CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SHOES

The GAINDÉ SHOES have the beauty to exhibit the values that unify the whole country.

1) THE LION or GAINDÉ

The LION named GAINDÉ in the national language (woloff) is the king of jungle. It embodies the power, the fury and the majesty.

It is feared by its opponents. It represents several virtues such as the courage, the determination to be at the top, the respect, etc.

All these attributes & values should be carried by all Senegalese people, players & supporters.

2) THE COUNTRY

SENEGAL (Wolof: Senegaal; French: Sénégal), officially the Republic of Senegal (Wolof: Réewum Senegaal; French: République du Sénégal), is a country in West Africa. Senegal is bordered by Mauritania in the north, Mali to the east, Guinea to the southeast, and Guinea-Bissau to the southwest.

SENEGAL also borders Gambia, a country occupying a narrow sliver of land along the banks of the Gambia River, which separates Senegal's southern region of Casamance from the rest of the country. Senegal shares a maritime border with Cape Verde. Senegal's economic and political capital is Dakar.

3) THE NATIONAL FLAG

The FLAG of Senegal (French: le drapeau du Sénégal) is a tricolour consisting of three vertical green, yellow and red bands charged with a five-pointed green star at the centre. Adopted in 1960 to replace the flag of the Mali Federation, it has been the flag of the Republic of Senegal since the country gained independence that year.

From a national perspective, green is highly symbolic within all of the country's primary religions. In Islam, the country's majority religion at 94% percent of the population, the green of both the first stripe and the star represent the colour of the Prophet Mouhammed (peace be upon him). Christians see the presence of green as a portent of hope, and Animists view green as representative of fecundity.

The Senegalese government offers exegesis for the presence of yellow and red as well, yellow being "the symbol of wealth; it represents the product of work, for a nation whose main priority is the progress of economy, which will allow the increase of the cultural level, the second national priority." Additionally, yellow is denoted as "the colour of arts, literature, and intellect", primarily because literature teachers in Senegal are known to wear yellow blouses.

Red "recalls the colour of blood, therefore colour of life and the sacrifice accepted by the nation, and also of the strong determination to fight against underdevelopment."

4) THE BAOBAB

The BAOBAB (Adansonia digitata, guy in Wolof, boki in Pulaar, baak in Sereer, sito in Mandinka) is extraordinary in many regards.  Its massive trunk can grow to circumferences of 25 meters or more.

The BAOBAB has an enormous girth and great longevity (over a thousand years as attested by radio-carbon dating).

Its fruits (French: pain de singe) and its associated juice (French: jus de bouye) are very popular & appreciated by everyone.

It is under these ancient trees that traditions and values are transmitted, local issues are being fixed, solutions are suggested for the best of the    community (French: l'arbre  à palabres).

This is also the place where oral stories are told to children by elders, especially in villages. This is the reason why baobabs have such a huge impact on the cultural aspect of the Senegalese society.

5) THE MOTTO

This MOTTO is in French and means "ONE PEOPLE, ONE GOAL, ONE FAITH" in English.

6) OUR LOGO
